The task set for us was to produce a machinima style animation while exploring different principles and techniques of animation such as keyframes, cyclic animations, usage of the Trax Editor, MoCap and introduce us to working as a team.
Our first lecture recapped on areas from rigging and first year animations that we may have forgotten such as weight distribution, timing and follow-through. From that point we started to choose our groups. Working in a small group of 4, we set about thinking of a scenario to base our animations on.
Our animation was to be based around a thief breaking into a bank/museum to steal valuables. Alongside this we entertained the notion of going for a 'Pink Panther-esque' style where the thief is rather clumsy. We liked this idea and decided to attempt this style. From this we then discussed various animations that may have been needed and created a list we could reference. These animations included:
By having a varied list of animations, we were able to let people choose what they wanted to attempt so no-one felt forced into doing them. Also it allowed us to give everyone the required amount of animations.
